Giving to the Department of Primary Care Health Sciences

The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences is one of the world's important centres for academic primary care, leading world-class research, engagement and training. Their goal is to rethink the way healthcare is delivered in general practice and across other community settings and influence health policy.

Research at the Department focuses on the prevention, early diagnosis and management of common illness, bringing together academics from many different backgrounds to produce benefits for the NHS, populations and patients.

The Department covers research – ranging from cardiovascular and metabolic disease, to infectious diseases and cancer – to better understand and improve the experiences of patients, utilising big data and developing digital health interventions. It is home to important institutes and a world-renowned clinical trials unit.

In addition to teaching the University of Oxford undergraduate programme in medicine, the Department runs Master’s and DPhil programmes in Translational Health Sciences, Evidence Based Healthcare, Applied Digital Health, and Global Healthcare Leadership.
