OUWLRC was founded in 1984. The club trains and selects a lightweight women's crew to race in the annual Lightweight Boat Races against Cambridge

The club depends on the generosity of donors to ensure that Oxford students have the opportunity to compete in the Lightweight Boat Races alongside studying at one of the world's top universities.

Team rowing

Over the years, donations have provided boats, buildings (most notably the Iffley Road gym and tank, and the Fleming Boathouse at Wallingford) together with funding for training camps and coaches.

We are so grateful to all our supporters and we welcome donations at all levels.

The Oceanids Fund

We are currently looking for alumni to making a donation towards the new Oceanids Fund in support of OUWLRC. Can you help us raise £25,000 per year to secure the future of the club? By supporting this fund, you will enable more students to get involved in rowing and ensure continued success for the sport at Oxford. Your donation will be critical in enabling us to continue developing lightweight rowing at Oxford University.

Aims and aspirations

With the support of the Oceanids Fund, the aims of OUWRLC are to:

  • Invest in high-quality coaching by hiring one full time head coach plus part time assistance (including nutrition support) to attract, develop, and retain rowers and coxes with potential.
  • Plan other club activities such as domestic training camps.
  • Refresh and consolidate the boat fleet.
  • Ultimately, to win Boat Races!

The support of all our alumni and friends is needed more than ever before, to pave the way for the club's successful future.
