Support graduate law scholarships

Providing graduate students with opportunities to shape the future of law.

Oxford’s Faculty of Law attracts exceptionally talented graduate students with outstanding potential to shape the future of law, however many face obstacles that hinder them from fulfilling this potential. For as many as 50% of graduate offer-holders, funding prevents students from accepting their place at Oxford Law.

A donation to our Dean’s Scholars Fund helps to ensure that finances are not a barrier to study for our future leaders and problem solvers.

Meet the scholars

“The Dean’s Scholarship has been instrumental in providing me with an invaluable opportunity to pursue my doctoral research at Oxford. My research involves studying the innovative rights-based remedies developed by apex courts in common law democracies. This generous support has allowed me to engage deeply with my DPhil project, which explores how courts shape access to justice and enforce rights. Thanks to the Dean’s Scholarship, I can focus on contributing meaningful insights to global conversations on comparative constitutional law and human rights and work on issues plaguing the global south.”

“I am very grateful to have received the Dean’s Scholarship. The scholarship has enabled me to experience all that Oxford and the Faculty of Law have to offer.

The BCL will allow me to interrogate how the law is failing our communities, why this is the case, and what can be done about it. I am passionate about improving access to justice and legal literacy. I am also fascinated by the relationship between private law and fundamental rights. I am undertaking a range of papers which touch on these issues from different angles. In the long term, I aspire to a career at the bar where I can put my learnings into practice.”

“My DPhil centres on the regulation and role of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) technologies in net zero strategies. It has been very rewarding to know my work is valued and so generously supported by the Dean’s Trust. Prior to my DPhil I served as a Policy Fellow for the German government. There we implemented climate policy conceived by scholars who are now my colleagues in Oxford. In this context I experienced the relevance of Oxford thought leadership for legislators and courts first-hand.”
