Lawn Tennis Clubhouse appeal

This year we have a great opportunity to redevelop the old Tennis clubhouse at our Iffley Road courts, which has stood since the mid-1980s. While structurally sound, the building’s interior is out of date, lacks proper heating and does not offer a happy environment for match hosting.

This project will allow members to socialise before and after matches and training sessions in a more modern and hospitable space. To achieve this, we need to:

    • Redevelop the heating system, including double glazing all windows and adding more insulation to the loft area. This will help the club with the current energy crisis and allow us to reduce our environmental impact.
    • Add bi-fold doors opening onto a new outdoor decking area and create a new side entrance to the clubhouse to maintain tidiness.
    • Replace the existing unused changing rooms, showers and toilets with redesigned unisex changing cubicle and new toilets.
    • Install a new kitchen and table for dining and club meetings.
    • Create a lounge area, including Wi-Fi and TV/presentation screen.
    • Allow for additional hosting space for larger events, doubling as a games area with foldable table tennis table.

Architect's vision for the renovated clubhouse

The new clubhouse will offer a welcoming environment for hosting the club’s members and will enable the Tennis community to continue going from strength to strength at Oxford.Together with your support, we can give Oxford Tennis the home it deserves.

From being the logistical base of everyday club operations to hosting away teams for match tea, the clubhouse is central to tennis life in Oxford. Its refurbishment would allow it to welcome members, alumni, and friends of the club with a friendlier face both for on and off court occasions, whilst providing a space that matches the proud 145 years of OULTC history.
